Akira won't be having any little puppies
December 14, 2004 Posted by mitch | dog | 0 Comments
I took our dog Akira in to be spayed Monday. She tested to be no longer anemic so they went ahead with the procedure. When we picked her up at 5:30, she was barely coherent and wouldn't respond to her name. She threw up a couple of times throughout the night. Lucky me, I was up anyway with a migraine so I got to take care of her. It seems that her pain meds make her sleepy and or queazy. However, today we saw a big improvement in her attitude, shes almost back up to her normal self. Pictures of her can be seen (sorry, they are no longer on the web... don't know where they are). The first spay one is right after we got her home, the second is from about an hour ago.Our dog is sick :(

Our dog Akira was schedualed to be spayed today. So I took her in early this morning on my way to work... she must not like riding in my car because she puked three times. She did that the first couple times we took her for a ride in the car, but for the last few times shes been fine. So, I really didn't think she would this time, but I still came somewhat prepared with a puppy pad we've been using for potty training her. It wasn't quite enough... After I dropped her off, the Vet did a blood test and found that shes anemic as well. However she wasn't that concerned. She's having us change her diet from the PetsMart brand food (Authority) to Science Diet. We are supposed to go back in in 3 weeks to see how shes doing then. Needless to say, my wife is worried about her now, wondering about all the things that might be wrong with her. Time will tell however... it always does.Got a puppy

My wifes been saying she wants a puppy for a couple months, and saturday she essintally said "We're going to Petsmart in Orem to adopt a puppy". I didn't have much of a choice... However we did come home with a rather cute little Jack Russel Terrier Mix...(the mom was the terrier, and the dad was a mix of atleast a Australian Sheep dog? and a Blue Heeler) So, she doesn't really look like a terrier other than her size. She'll stay small, but shes kinda a fat little dog. I'm not sure what my wife has planned to name her, shes been trying to deside between two names "Akira" and "Echo". She was leaning toward Akira but couldn't deside, so I just started calling her Akira. Getting her house trained is the next big thing. I think I'm getting a handle on it however. She'll go, just have to remember to take her outside every 2-3 hours atleast. However, shes also getting alot better at going on these trainning pads we bought her as well. Locking her in the kitchen during the night seems to be working, last night she only went on the mats. Anyway, I know I still have a long ways to go with her, but I think were going in the right direction.Tags
