How deep does the rabbit hole go?

My mother drew a distinction between achievement and success. She said that 'achievement is the knowledge that you have studied and worked hard and done the best that is in you. Success is being praised by others, and that's nice, too, but not as important or satisfying. Always aim for achievement and forget about success.' -- Helen Hayes

Sarah Palin is scary…

mitch @ 8:04 pm on October 27, 2008

I’ve always believed it from the moment I first heard of her… but after reading an article on Sarah Palin’s War on Science. I’m appalled. *THIS* is the candidate the conservatives want in a vice president? One missed heart beat away from the president of the USA… in a time such as ours currently? *REALLY?!?!* *WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?*

I don’t know what to do… really… I’m at a loss… why? I want a good reason why? I’m tired of the petty terrorist, or he hates America crap, or he’s a socialist… Wake up, we just bailed out private banks… we’re socialist already UNDER REPUBLICAN CONTROL (and if its for the reason of color… shoot yourself now, you don’t have a reason to live)… and can’t we just get beyond paltry party politics for a minute and just look at a thing called HISTORY, you know… that dreaded class that was forced upon you in your early schooling years… ya know they did that for a reason….

Look, I’m not saying he’s perfect, I don’t know how he could be where he is, and be perfect. He still has to pander like every other politician… but they pander for you, you know that right? They spoon feed you whatever crap they believe you want to hear. And they dodge questions and flash something shiny to divert your attention from what really matters. All I’m saying is look at the history, as that’s really the true measure of the person. And from where I’m standing… (I realize there is “less” history for Obama, but go from what there is).

The answer is obvious… more of the same… or actual Change(tm).

Finally getting grass in the backyard!

mitch @ 9:25 am on May 23, 2008

Well, its almost been two years of living here, and the landscapers are just finishing up laying sod in the back yard. Finally we can enjoy the back yard and the lawn care starts. We’ll see how it goes. Its been funny watching Kira run around on the top soil for the last couple days. She hasn’t had a yard to run around freely in since we left the old house. I’ll update with pictures once its all done.

mitch @ 9:28 am on August 24, 2006

After 3 months of waiting, our landscaping is finally going to be finished by next week some time. I need to find out how much it will cost for the backyard, since only the front yard came with the purchase….

Long time, no post

mitch @ 5:35 pm on May 12, 2006

Lifes been a bit crazy as of late… if you couldn’t tell by the lack of posting anything. We’re in the process of moving. Moving! you might say.. yes we are moving… After a little over a year in this house, we have decided to sell it and we will be moving back up to South Jordan… The drive is killing both my wife and I, and with the prices continually going up, if we wait much longer we may never be able to afford one up in Salt Lake County again… So we did it, our house had an offer on it within 4 days of being on the market. I’ll update after the move and I have an internet connection again! I will be updating the pictures we have of this house as well… so you can see what we ended with, and also pics of the new house!

And we have pergo

mitch @ 11:57 am on June 12, 2005

Well sortof… We are currently a little over half done with installing the pergo flooring into our kitchen. Its taken a while because of some of the weird shapes that need to be cut around. However, we should be finnished today. Elissa’s grandparents will be comming back down to help later and it should only take a couple hours to finish up. I should be able to post pictures today if I get my computer setup….

** UPDATE **

Well, we finnished finally!! It was midnight before we finally finnished, and we couldn’t have gotten it done that fast without the help of Elissa’s grandparents and uncle Bill. Elissa and I are very gratefull for their help for this project. They were a tremendous help. Anyway, now what your all waiting for, PICTURES! Which are found at the usual place.

And we have carpet!

mitch @ 3:48 pm on June 2, 2005

Its been a long time comming, but, finally we have carpet. Still have a few finishing touches for the living room to do, (hide the big vent hole and the electrical outlet in the middle of the wall, and clean and clear coat the hardwood) but other than that… we’re mostly finnished… man… Its been 4 months and I’m ready to call it quits finally… hopefully we can be fully moved into a large portion of our house within the next week. I’m so tired of working a full day at work and going home to a construction zone to work some more… its been really annoying and alot of work. Time will tell if it was worth while :).

You can check the pics at the usual place.

First time mowing my law!

mitch @ 3:18 pm on May 10, 2005

I mowed the lawn for the first time at the new house yesterday! wow, never thought I’d be excited about that… It was getting to be quite the jungle however, and since it didn’t rain all day at the house yesterday, it seemed like the best time to just get it done. I never realized exactly how much crab grass I have though… Must remember to put down crab grass killer in febuary or so next year… But for now, some weed and feed is a must…

We have sheetrock!

mitch @ 10:53 am on May 9, 2005

After some skepticism on my part, we were actually able to get most of the sheetrock put up over the weekend. However, it would not have happened without the help of Elissa’s(my wife) grandparents and my dad. All of whom spent the better part of 9 hours or so helping us get it all done. Many thanks.

I’ve updated the pictures and they can be found here.

Trouble in the home remodel

mitch @ 2:44 pm on May 3, 2005

Just when you think things can’t get much worse… it will. We’ve been going on two months (or is it 3?…) of remodeling the house, and the latest setback has been our old tile ceiling caving in. Now, don’t go thinking it was the roof, because it wasn’t. The old ceiling tiles, made out of the same material suspended ceilings are made out of, are what collapsed. The previous owner, durning the last remodel, instead of removing the old set, chose to just glue more ontop of the old… making it twice as thick and heavy. I had steped on a corner of the ceiling and made it sag during my escapades with rewiring, and we were in the process of fixing it last saturday when the whole thing came down. No one was injured however, my cell phone was a casualty in the accident. I’ll be getting a new one by thursday.

Anyhow, I’ve uploaded some pics after the cleanup of the fallen ceiling. Which you can see, the air is still very dusty. And also some of our fancy sheet rock work from my day off yesterday.

Those pics can be found in my pics section here.
