How deep does the rabbit hole go?

Right...is the child of law: from real laws come real rights; but from imaginary laws, from laws of nature, fancied and invented by poets, rhetoricians, and dealers in moral and intellectual poisons, come imaginary rights, a bastard brood of monsters. -- Jeremy Bentham

The Coming Elections

mitch @ 5:33 pm on October 5, 2006

Thats right, they’re comming, if you hadn’t noticed… gas prices are falling, and the dirt is being dug up on both sides of the Democrat and Republican fenses.  I’ve followed politics for the last couple years, not extensively because there’s only so much my nerves and stomach can take, and up until recently I’ve wondered why should I even bother with it.  They all seem to sell their soles to the highest bidder and make compromises, giving up something important to gain some political capital.  It is this squabling that has kept me from even wanting to vote, because I thought they all were dealing with two faces(at the very least).  It has to stop.  Its time we get people in office that know the circumstances that this nation was founded on, which is also the very reason for its greatness.  Personal beliefs do *NOT* have any place in making descisions for this country.  I don’t care what religion you are, their rules should not be represented in bills to be put into law.  It is supposed to be the land of the free, and have justice for all.  Not just the few we choose, not just Americans, every single human being on this planet.  I have been looking and waiting for a candidate that understands these very simple things, things that were taught in grade school here in the US.  I have finally found one, and as such, I’ve actually registered to vote for the coming elections and will be voting for Pete Ashdown and he just wrote an excelent blog on just what I’m talking about.
